Note: This qualification has replaced the Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene.

About the course

This level 2 course is a recognised qualification in the catering industry, to help food handlers to work with food safely in their daily tasks. 

 

Who should attend?

All food handlers including chefs, kitchen porters, dinner ladies, nursing home staff etc. 

 

Course Content:

The qualification covers the following topics:

Course Duration:

There are six hours of teaching, then a multiple-choice test. Courses are usually conducted over one day, but can be split over two mornings/afternoons if required.

 

Assessment Method:

Short objective test
Pass mark - 20 correct answers out of 30 questions.

 

Entry Requirements:

None - Appropriate for all employees

Our courses are conducted in English, but a range of foreign language papers is available for candidates who would find it easier. 

 

Qualification:

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Royal Society for Public Health or H.A.B.C.
Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
or Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing
or Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Retail

 

Suggested progression on completion:

Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
